It was the article's picture of the huge blue octopus that drew me to it (see above :-)

Paul

The rather bizarre world cup predicting octopus has sadly passed away. Rest in peace Paul. Glob would be proud;

Dizzy Heights

When I was young I used to love this programme (see link below).It's a programme called Dizzy Heights Hotel. It was a hotel filled with a lot of wierdoes. As far as I remember anyway. Through the beauty of Youtube. I watched it again. Oh it's still wonderful, still filled with that early 90s zest I love so much.Who cares if it's cheap sets it still looks fantastic! And still wonderful, even through the glasses of nostalgia. Anyway this video is also introduced by Phillipa Forrester. My first love :-) Try the video, you might like it. Or you might think I'm a sentimental old fool. Either is fine :-) The link is below

Entertainment

Well, for those of you who are of a more mature persuasion I can heartily recommend reading Bret Easton Ellis' American Psycho. It's not for the faint of heart, at all, but I found it completely unputdownable. The book is narrated by a man named Patrick Bateman and to begin with he tells you about his life as a yuppie (posh business man). He lists in great detail everything he and his friends eat and wear. It's very peculiar and you get the feeling something bad is going to happen. About halfway through the build up ends and...well there are a lot of rather graphic murders. It's hard reading and almost puts you off. But then afterwards, when he returns to the listing of friends outfits you get the feeling that he is going mad. I really, really enjoyed it. The ending particularly draws together a lot of little details leaving you to wonder about the book and what it meant.
For those of you not into graphic violence or you are a bit younger, can I recommend this. I watched this when it was first broadcast. It's still brilliant. I love the art and character design as well as the story :-)

What have you been up to?

I've been a bit lax with my weekly updates recently. But I'm sure you've not noticed, I'm sure you get the idea that I'm working away and you'll get to see something as soon as it's ready. It won't be long, honest.

Last week I visited Chester Zoo. It must be twenty years since I've been and I really had the urge to go to Africa. When you can't afford a safari where else would you go??
The weather really made the day but some of the other highlights included a two month old baby elephant and a strange anaimal called a Scimitar-horned Orynx. How anything can exist with horns as long as those I will never know!! There was a butterfly house and a bat house where you got to get up close and personal with the animals as they flew around! Not to mention a few baby...well I'll called them 'apes' because I don't want to get it wrong. But they were very cute indeed!

See photos!
