Ed?

Hello,
Following on from my recent visit to the pictures to see the Lion King in glorious 3d, I'd like to comment on Ed. Ed as you might

know if you've seen the film is one of the baddies. A nasty hyena who causes nothing but trouble for Simba our cute feline hero.

And in my opinion Ed is one of the scariest baddies ever. Why? Because he's insane. The other hyenas aren't very nice, they

want to eat poor Simba and cause mayhem. However they know what they are doing, they have conversations and they make

intelligent jokes. Ed on the other hand is a slathering monster. He doesn't seem to understand what he's doing. That means

there's no reasoning with him because he doesn't understand. If he catches you you're doomed. And probably not in a nice way

either. Chances are there'll be 'fun' in a torturing sort of way. It's his demeanor. His eyes roll wildly and he laughs, a crazy laugh.

Far worse than any other laugh. Those cackling arch nemesis laughs just aren't the same. He's not quiet and foreboding like

many henchmen are either. In fact he's like Terminator, unstoppable albeit for different reasons. Ergh, even thinking of him

gives me nightmares. Just one more reason why the Lion King is one of my favourite films.

Nerd!

Hello!

I recieved a package from America and inside was... a trip down memory lane! Does anyone else remember Nerds? Of course these are American ones, they taste the same but the box is six times bigger than the ones we used to get!! Rather than having two small sections with little popping flaps it's more like an atache case! They don't taste as good as I remember but then again they are neon coloured. I think they used to make Neon Nerds too, daren't imagine what colour they are!

Ploughing the field

Writing is like ploughing a field. No, really. Well, that's what I was thinking the othe day. You see you start out with a bare patch of land. Then, as you write you begin pushing the plough through the field. Sowing the seeds of your imagination as you go. Sometimes the plough cuts effortlessly through the ground. And it's easy. At others it catches on stones, struggles and sometimes even gets stuck. Leaving your seeds to grow into a half-field or to wither and die. When you look back sometimes you see a endless field of gold. Othertimes you see the furrows aren't quite where you wanted and you have to go back. Realigning the seeds to where you wanted. It's hard work, it can by fulfilling. And sometimes you just end up covered in muck with very little to show. So that's why I think writing is like ploughing.

Updates?

Hello!

Right, in the interest of trying to maintain an 'active' online presence I'm trying to update my facebook page with something interesting every day. Maybe not something I've done, today's is a link to Robert Rankin's new online comic (really cool by the way). But we'll see how it goes.
Check out my twitter too @whisperingsand where I post random rubbish too!
